Superintendent

Greetings to the Floyd County community,

The 2017-2018 school year has arrived and we are excited about the future for Floyd County students!  As educators, we work to build relationships with students that confirm we care about them, want them to be successful and that there is always a safe place for them in our schools.  Once we have formed that bond, our goal is for each student to understand they have potential that is waiting to be revealed and their dreams will always be a possibility.

Knowing how to learn is more important than any content we teach in our classrooms.  Our staff understands the objective of teaching our students how to learn through collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, communication and citizenship.

Reading with or to your child(ren) is without a doubt a great way to spend time with them as well as one of the most powerful activities you can do to help them succeed academically and socially. Literacy is the foundation for learning.

We have increased our instructional resources and the amount of high engaging activities in our classrooms. This project based learning fits nicely with the new STEAM labs (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) in each elementary school.  STEAM education is an instructional technique as much as an experience for our students.  We have expanded the opportunities for our high school students in the core subject areas as well as our career and technical programs.

Our most valuable resource is our families. The positive partnership we form with you is necessary to help your child(ren) reveal their potential and realize their dreams. We value your input and welcome you to contact us at any time.

Warmest Regards,

John F. Wheeler, Ed.D.
