The School Board of Floyd County Public Schools has instituted a new policy to help correct overcrowded classrooms. Policy JC now gives parents/guardians an opportunity to request for students to attend underpopulated classes in the division based on classroom averages. Transportation will not be provided by the school system. A letter requesting the change in attendance area, as well as a form found on our website (Click Here), would need to be sent to the Superintendent and will be approved by the School Board. Parents that request a change in school attendance area will be notified by August 1st as to whether the request has been granted. Permission will be granted on an annual basis dependent upon class size. The following grades and schools are considered to be underpopulated:
Check Elementary: 2nd grade, 3rd grade (limited), 4th grade, 6th grade, and 7th grade
Floyd Elementary: 3rd grade (limited)
Indian Valley Elementary: Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 5th grade
Willis Elementary: 1st grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, and 7th grade
