Willis Elementary School Receives Governor's 2012 Virginia Index of Performance (VIP) Award
Governor Bob McDonnell and the VA Board of Education recently announced that 447 schools and two school divisions have earned the 2012 VIP Award for advanced learning and achievement. This award, which recognizes schools and divisions that far exceed state and federal accountabilty standards, focuses on putting students first and maintaining high expectations, instruction, learning, and student achievement.
Willis Elementary School was previously awarded the 2011 Governor's Board of Educational Excellence Award, the 2010 Governor's Award for Educational Excellence, and was named a Title I Distinguished School in 2010.
This award was the result of everyone working together as an educational team composed of administrator, faculty and staff members, parents, students, and also with the support of the community.
