Message from the Superintendent
Welcome to the 2018 School Year:
As we enter our second year of having the privilege to serve Floyd County, our leadership staff is thrilled about the collaboration and progress that is being made for all Floyd County residents especially for our most valued resource, the children of Floyd County. Our School Board understands the values of citizenship, communication, creative and critical thinking, and collaboration. The partnerships we have with our Board of Supervisors, our Town Council, the Floyd County Chamber of Commerce, and our Economic Development Authority allows us to make our vision a reality and secure a great future for all of Floyd County. We are expanding the experiences for our students and involving high engagement project centered activities to develop problem solving and creativity.
We want all of our students to understand they have potential that is waiting to be revealed and their dreams will always be a possibility. The focus on literacy and mental wellness of all our children is a foundation of all of our goals. Please check out our website and download the Floyd County Public Schools app for more insight into what is going on in our schools.
We have continued our efforts to make every household in Floyd County literacy rich by providing a resource back pack for any 3, 4, or 5 year old resident of Floyd County. The increase in our Pre-Kindergarten classrooms and the collaboration of our awesome teachers are helping form the necessary foundation for success. Read to your children often. Reading strategies are provided in this handbook.
All of our improvements and opportunities that we continue to make will provide positive experiences for our students. This happens because of our greatest assets, our people. Our staff creates these opportunities by conveying to our students that they are safe, cared for, and we all want them to be successful. You as family members provide the foundation at home and we appreciate your partnership. We wish you all a great 2018 school year. Please feel free to contact myself or any of our leadership team anytime.
