We are excited that IVES and FES will have their new heating systems projected to be completed by October 16. The reason that those two schools were replaced immediately is because the coal furnaces in each school were in the greatest need of major repairs.
The outside work of tank placement at the other elementary schools is complete. The high school will be fitted with new tanks in early spring. Once heating season is over, about the middle of April, they will get started on replacing those coal burners at Check, Willis, and Floyd County High.
On December 20, 2019 project managers from Nor-Well Corporation (installers of the heating system), Thompson & Litton, Mr. Cox, FCPS Maintenance Supervisor, and Dr. Wheeler met to review the completion of the new heating systems at FES and IVES. These new systems are functioning properly. The installation of the heating systems at FCHS, WES, and CES is scheduled to begin in June, 2020.
Nor-Well Corporation will be placing storage containers at FCHS, CES, and WES to store the equipment to replace the boilers. These will be put out of the way of students and traffic. Nor-Well will place these on February 6 and 7.
