No School for students Friday, October 11. The end of the 1st Marking Period is Oct 10. Report Cards will go out Friday, October 18.
On Tuesday, October 8th, Lifetouch will be here for underclass make-up and club pictures. Faculty, Staff and Students who did not have their picture made in August will need to do so on Tuesday.
Attention all Students for Students members, we'll be meeting in Mrs. Meneghini's room for our club meeting time rather than the auditorium. We look forward to seeing you there!
Any rec club member that hasn't paid their 5$ dues must do so before they will be allowed to participate in club this Wednesday. No exceptions.
Anyone planning on joining science club must turn in their dues by the next club meeting on Wednesday. Dues are $5 and can be turned in to Mr. Peeples in room 303 or you can bring them to the meeting.
Senior Quotes are back by popular demand. Please pick up your senior quote form in the main office and turn it in to room 435 by November 25th.
PSAT’s are being offered here at FCHS at no cost on October 16th during the school day. Please sign –up in the Counseling office on Mrs. Sapp’s desk if you plan on taking the PSAT’s.
October is Disability Awareness Month. Floyd County High school would like to support different disabilities here at FCHS beginning with Dwarfism Awareness. During lunches on Fridays, we will be selling green Dwarfism Awareness Bracelets outside the cafeteria. Bracelets cost a dollar and sales will start today. Funds raised will benefit students with special needs. All students and staff are encouraged to wear green on Mondays during the month of October.
After school tutoring for History will be on Thursdays in Room 315.
The FCA will be sponsoring the nationwide Fields of Faith event in the Auditorium on October 9th. This is a student led event. All are invited to attend and enjoy the event lead by your classmates. Please invite your friends, youth groups, and enemies as well. We look forward to a great night! 7 PM, October 9th.

History MACC will begin practicing on Wednesdays in Room 315 at 3:30pm.
Do you like to write stories, poems, plays, or scripts? Do you want feedback on your ideas and to improve your writing skills? Join the Creative Writing Club! The main goal of this club is to create and share excerpts of writing, exchange ideas and strategies, and create a community of writers. Meetings will begin on the school’s next club day during 2nd Block in Room 108. We hope to see you there!
Attention Sophomore, Junior and Senior Girls - are you interested in engineering and technology? Sweet Briar College has an overnight event on Oct 25-26. You will be working in teams with engineering professors and students to imagine and bring to life a computer controlled interactive Halloween device. Ferrum College has Open Houses on Sept. 28 and November 9th. You can go online to register. And - just for visiting - they will award you a 1,000 annual scholarship and will double it if you apply and then end up attending Ferrum.
Virginia State University is having their open house October 12th from 9:30-2:00. They will have all their departments and organizations on campus to answer questions.
