Mrs. Kristen Harrod

Raised in Columbia, South Carolina, and the Shenandoah Valley (New Market), Virginia, I graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in Quicksburg, Virginia. Following graduation, I attended Radford University for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in English.

I began my teaching career as a tenth-grade English teacher at Carroll County High for Carroll County Public Schools, Virginia, from 2004- 2007. In addition, I've taught in Shenandoah County, Virginia from 2010-2015, and 2015-2017, in Grades 6, 7, and 8, and was a Reading Specialist; in Rockingham County, Virginia from 2015-2017, Grade 8; and in Floyd County, Virginia from 2007 to 2010 and 2019 to present; English 8, 9, 10, 11, Dual-Enrollment English and Honors English classes.

After teaching for seven years, I went back to school to get my Master's Degree in Education, with a concentration in Reading Education from James Madison University (Graduated in December 2016).  I've been an educator for 19 years in Virginia Public Schools. 

I am a wife, mother of two, cat mom, educator, reader, haiku writer, old-time mandolin player, singer, and lover of hot tea and dark chocolate.
