• Floyd Elementary school has a very active PTO. The school made up of approximately 500 students. The PTO has strong support from the school and administration here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The mission of the PTO is to support and speak behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children. The PTO also assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children. The PTO also encourages parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.


    As a member of the PTO you will have the opportunity to make a positive difference in your child's future and the future of all children. You will also strengthen the family-school-community partnership and support related activities. As a member you have access to information and materials on a wide variety of family concerns and interests. You will learn about important issues affecting your community. You will be part of a network made up of other parents and community leaders and you can influence legislative issues affecting children at the local, state, and federal levels.
