Floyd County Kindergarten and Prekindergarten Registration Dates Announced
If your child will be five on or before September 30, 2020, Virginia School Law states the child must enter either a public or private school. If your child will be three or four on or before September 30, 2020, they may be eligible for enrollment in one of our Pre-Kindergarten programs through Head Start or the public school system.
The Kindergarten registration program at each school will include a general session for parents to complete the online registration, meet members of the school staff, discuss school policies, and visit the Kindergarten rooms. Activities for the children will be conducted by the Kindergarten teachers.
Floyd County Schools has scheduled Kindergarten registrations at 6:00 pm as follows:
Check Elementary School – Thursday, March 12, 2020
Floyd Elementary School – Tuesday, March 10, 2020
Indian Valley Elementary School – Thursday, March 12, 2020
Willis Elementary School – Monday, March 9, 2020
There are currently three Pre-Kindergarten classes for Floyd County Public Schools located at Check Elementary, Floyd Elementary, and Willis Elementary. All families interested in Pre-K are invited to a Pre-K information night on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Floyd Elementary School anytime between 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Representatives from Head Start and VPI will be available to assist with the application process and provide information on the eligibility requirements. There will be activities for the children available. Class size is limited so please register early.
Parents/Guardians are requested to bring the child’s birth certificate and immunization records. A current physical examination form must be completed before the child comes to school. Forms are available at most doctors’ offices and at the Floyd County Health Department. Copies of the form will also be available at school on the day of registration.
Please register your child for any of the above programs for which they are eligible. This is an exciting time in your child’s life and Floyd County Schools are excited to be a part of it.
